USE OF STETHOSCOPE AND BLOOD PRESSURE INSTRUMENTS.
Sir,
I am directed to
state that Unani, Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic System of
Medicine are regulated under UAH Act of 1965. as such,Unani
& Homoeopathic and other non-allopathic drugs are not
covered under the Drugs Act 1976. Consequently manufacture
and sale etc of such drugs is not subject to control under
the said Act unless they contain any ingredient of an
allopathic drugs or other contravene the said Act or any
Rules made thereunder.

It has been reported by National Council for
Homoeopathy that Drugs Inspectors of your department, are
unnecessarily harassing the practitioners of Tibb and
Homoeopathic System of Medicine for using diagnostic
instruments,i.e.Therefore, Blood Pressure appratus and
Stethoscope etc in their clinic. In this connection the
matter was taken-up with Law &Justice Division,for
advice. The advice of the Division is clear that registered/
qualified practitioners authorized for practice in their own
field. As these diagnostic instruments are included in the
syllabus of Tibb/Homoeopathic System of Medicine and are
taught the use of these instruments during study. Therefore
under the law the registered/qualified Hakims/ Homoeopaths
are permitted to use these instruments to diagnoses diseases
effectively.

It is requested that appropriate necessary
clarification/instructions may kindly be issued to all
concerned, under intimation to this Division, that all
registered/qualified practitioners of Unani,
Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic System of Medicine, may
not be harassed.
